Sierra de Guadarrama, Madrid

Wapapura traveled to the Sierra de Guadarrama north of Madrid to visit this special area and the multi-instrumentalist, Amir John-Haddad.  We had a wonderful time exploring this area under the guidance and gracious hosting of Alberto Arias of the trekking company, Mugamara along with Elisabeth Vasquez and Amir himself of Zoomusic.

Amir-John Haddad was born in Germany to a Palestinian father and Colombian mother, securing him a global identity and nomadic destiny that he embraced by using music to travel the world.  ”El Amir” spent 10 years playing for the mythical Spanish group, Radio Tarifa, but currently is involved in several projects that reflect his preferred musical languages of Mediterranenan, Middle-eastern and Andalusi origins.   His cuartet, Zoobazar, was chosen by Spanish National Radio to represent Spain in the Euroradio Folk Music Festival.

We hope you enjoy the set we shared with “El Amir” who currently resides in this area which are the mountains that house the Monastery del Escorial.  An area with a deep millennial history of civilisations of which you can learn about here on this stream.
