ALMA

Arte, Legado y Medio Ambiente (Art, Legacy and the Environment)

ALMA is Wapapura’s interdisciplinary residency program, offering artists structured immersion at the intersection of acoustic ecology, historical architecture, and environmental stewardship.

Grounded in Wapapura’s international field production work, ALMA provides artists with the time and framework necessary to develop site-specific compositions and visual projects. Guided by Wapapura’s leadership, participants practice total sonic presence - listening critically to the landscape to build an authentic creative dialogue with the environment.

Milestones & Global Reach

The inaugural ALMA residencies were hosted in partnership with Ecos da Pedra at a restored 12th-century monastery in Spain’s Ribeira Sacra - a UNESCO-recognized landscape of canyon ecosystems and ancient forests. The resulting documentary gained international acclaim on the environmental film festival circuit, winning Best Sound at the Earth Day Film Festival (Chico, California).
